My taste in luxury fashion has changed a lot over the past 10 years. If I look back, I almost feel like I was shopping for a different person. Back then, I cared more about what looked “cool” or what people would notice. Now, I care more about what I can actually wear in my daily life.
1. In the Beginning: I Only Followed Trends
When I first started buying luxury items, I mostly followed trends.
If something was popular on Instagram or worn by celebrities, I wanted it.
For example, I once bought a very eye-catching logo bag just because I saw it everywhere online. It looked amazing in photos, but in real life, I only used it a few times. It didn’t match most of my clothes, and after a while, I felt it was “too much” for normal days.
I also bought a pair of very trendy shoes that looked great in photos but were not comfortable at all. After walking in them for one day, I already knew they were not for real use.
2. The Turning Point: Real Life Starts to Matter
After a few years, I started noticing something strange.
Some of my most expensive items were just sitting in the closet.
At the same time, the simple pieces I bought without much thinking were the ones I kept using again and again.
For example, I had a very simple black leather bag I almost ignored at first. It didn’t have a big logo, and it wasn’t trendy. But it turned out to be the bag I used for work, shopping, and even short trips. It matched everything.
This made me start thinking differently.
3. Now: I Choose Simple and Practical Pieces
Now my style is much more simple.
I don’t chase trends anymore. I focus on things that are easy to wear and easy to match.
For example:
- I now prefer a clean leather tote bag instead of a loud logo bag
- I choose neutral colors like black, beige, and white
- I buy shoes that I can walk in all day without pain
One of my best recent purchases is a simple beige coat. It doesn’t have any special design or logo, but I wear it all the time in spring and autumn. I can wear it with jeans, dresses, or even sneakers. It just works.
4. How I See Luxury Fashion Now
My idea of luxury fashion is very different now.
Before, I thought luxury meant:
- Big logos
- New trends
- Expensive and eye-catching items
Now, I think luxury is more like:
- Good quality
- Simple design
- Long-term use
- Comfort in daily life
Luxury is not about showing off anymore. It’s more about how easy your life feels when you wear it.
5. A Simple Example From My Closet
If I open my wardrobe now, I can clearly see the difference.
The old pieces are mostly:
- Trendy bags I used for a short time
- Shoes that hurt my feet
- Clothes that I only wore for photos
The new pieces are:
- A black structured bag I use almost every day
- A soft cashmere sweater I wear every winter
- Simple sneakers I can walk for hours in
The difference is very clear. One side is for “looking good once,” the other is for “living in it every day.”
6. What I Would Tell My Past Self
If I could go back 10 years, I would tell myself:
Don’t rush. Don’t buy just because everyone else has it.
Try to imagine your real life:
- Will you still like this next year?
- Can you wear it more than 10 times?
- Does it fit your real daily routine?
Because in the end, the items you actually use are the ones that matter.
